CSA Information

Beginning in January 2010, we have decided to offer our farm as the focus in the formation of a “CSA”.  For those who are not familiar with the term, CSA refers to the Community Supported Agriculture movement wherein farmers and consumers form long-lasting partnerships for their mutual benefit.

By opening as a CSA, we are inviting you to become a member of a community focused on the support of local small farmers, the securing of wholesome food for their families and the protection of the environment through sustainable agricultural practices.

Members of CSAs purchase farm shares at the beginning of each year.  In return for this investment in our farm, we will work throughout the growing season to provide you with a weekly share of fresh vegetables, herbs, flowers and other agricultural products (such as maple syrup, eggs & honey).  Our price structure for the 2010 Season is as follows:

Full Share    Working $250   Non-Working  $350

Half Share     Working $190    Non-Working  $270

Individual Share    Working  $150    Non-Working  $210

A full share will provide more than enough produce for a family of four.  A working share requires 20 hours per year of work on the farm with tasks such as harvesting, weeding, etc.

We grow our food according to the National Organic Program standards and are in the process of obtaining our organic certification.  We do not use any synthetic fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides.

Being a member of a CSA also means that you will be invited to take a more active role in the farming experience.  You can take part in the decision-making process on things such as what we will grow and what long-term features you would like to see added to the farm such as greenhouses, berry patches and orchards.  You will also be invited to join social events such as pot-luck picnics, bonfire parties, volunteer workdays, farm tours, maple sugaring parties and harvest festivals.

If you have questions or would like to sign up, please call (734) 417-4514 or email us (prfarmstand@yahoo.com).

Sincerely,

John and Janet Adelmann
